Teen Patti: which hand beats which

Straight answers to the "does X beat Y" questions, with examples and the odds behind them. For the full order, see the hand rankings.

Does a Trail beat a Pure Sequence?

Yes. A Trail (three of a kind) is the highest hand in Teen Patti, so it beats a Pure Sequence (straight flush) — even though a Pure Sequence (48 hands) is actually rarer than a Trail (52 hands). Nothing beats a Trail.

What beats a Pure Sequence in Teen Patti?

Only a Trail. A Pure Sequence is the second-highest hand, so the only thing that beats it is three of a kind. Between two Pure Sequences, the higher run wins (A-K-Q is top).

Pure Sequence vs Sequence — which is higher?

A Pure Sequence wins. A Pure Sequence is three consecutive cards of the same suit; a plain Sequence is three consecutive cards of mixed suits. Any Pure Sequence beats any plain Sequence.

Does a Sequence beat a Colour? (straight vs flush)

Yes — and this is the opposite of poker. In Teen Patti a Sequence (run) beats a Colour (flush). Why: a Sequence (720 hands) is rarer than a Colour (1,096 hands), so it ranks higher. In poker a flush beats a straight; in three-card Teen Patti it's reversed.

Does a Colour beat a Pair?

Yes. A Colour (three cards of one suit, not in sequence) ranks above a Pair.

Does a Pair beat a High Card?

Yes. Any Pair beats any High Card. A High Card is the weakest hand — it just means none of the above, decided by the highest card.

Is A-2-3 a valid sequence in Teen Patti?

Yes. A-2-3 is a valid run. In most house rules it is the second-highest sequence, just below A-K-Q. Some tables instead rank it as the lowest run — agree which before you play.

A-K-Q vs A-2-3 — which is the higher sequence?

A-K-Q. A-K-Q is the highest run in Teen Patti; A-2-3 usually comes second, then K-Q-J down to 4-3-2.

What is the highest pair in Teen Patti?

A pair of Aces (A-A) with the best third card — A-A-K. Between two equal pairs, the third card (the kicker) decides the winner.

The quick order, strongest to weakest: Trail › Pure Sequence › Sequence › Colour › Pair › High Card. Note that Sequence beats Colour — the reverse of poker.
